Which international destinations are open for tourism?
COVID-19 is still in season, but the countries who have tackled the effects of the disease well are reopening for business, local travel, and international tourism. Here are a few international destinations open to travellers:
Bahamas
The Bahamas has reopened for international tourists. Before November 1, they required travellers to quarantine for 14 days in an accommodation of their choice. However, this rule has been lifted. All travellers have to do is apply for a Travel Health Visa and upload their negative COVID-19 test results. They must enter the country within 5 days of the test.
Barbados
Barbados has reopened its door for international tourists. The country has categorized countries into high, medium, low-risk, and very low risk and set up different rules for each zone’s entry. Tourists must carry their COVID-19 negative report and must arrive within the country within 3-5 days of the test. A quarantine period is essential for travellers from high-risk countries.
Dubai
Dubai was reopened to tourists in July. There are several Dubai tour packages you can choose from. You can take a Dubai trip without quarantining provided you carry a negative COVID-19 report within 4 days of departure. If not, officials carry out tests at the airport. Tourists must also download the Dubai COVID-19 contact tracing app and fill out their details. Sights and places are open for touring subject to social distancing norms.
Egypt
Egypt opened itself to international tourists from July. Travellers have to carry their negative COVID-19 report and arrive within 72 hours of the test. For those who don’t get tested, officials will carry out testing at the airport. Tourists must self-isolate in a hotel until the arrival of the test results and also have to carry proof of health insurance.
Greece
Greece resumed international travel in July. Before arrival, tourists will have to fill out a Passenger Locator Form online, capturing the details of their travel history, stay, and itinerary in Greece. Upon assessment of the traveller’s form, Greece officials have the discretion to test those who fall into high-risk categories. Those who test negative will have to isolate till they get the result and the ones who test positive will have to self-quarantine for 2 weeks.
Maldives
The Maldives has been open to international tourists since mid-July. Now you can take a trip to the Maldives and find a suitable Maldives package to cut costs. One has to fill out a Traveller Health Declaration before arrival with their negative test results. Officials are allowed to carry out random testing upon arrival. Those who test positive will have to quarantine.
South Korea
South Korea is open to international tourists. However, all tourists, regardless of nationality and length of stay, will be tested for COVID-19 upon arrival. They will also be mandatorily quarantined for 14 days, irrespective of the results.
Turkey
Turkey has been open to international tourists since mid-June. Tourists do not have to take a test or quarantine upon arrival. However, adhering to social distancing norms and wearing masks everywhere is mandatory.
